Program or project description: The Student Advocacy Project supports and facilitates the equal rights of students in relation to enrolment, participation, facilities and services through structured advocacy and collaborative relationships. In partnership with the Department of Education, 54 reasons provide a suite of advocacy services to students attending or enrolling in NTG schools in the Palmerston and Darwin areas, and their families.
The Project aims to:
• Support students to enrol and participate in school with other children in their local area
• Assist students to receive reasonable adjustments and support tailored to their learning needs
• Ensure students and their families have the information they need to help schools and that service providers make meaningful learning opportunities possible for them; and to
• Identify and address common barriers to inclusion in schools are
identified and addressed in collaboration with families, schools and other key stakeholders
Additional information
The Student Advocacy Pilot Project has been extended with funding from the Department of Education until the end of June 2023.
