Who we are

Youth Voice NT is a project that aims to elevate the voices of young people aged 12 to 25 years old in the Northern Territory.

Our vision is for a Territory where all young people feel empowered to have a say about issues and policies that directly impact them. This includes:

Aboriginal young people
Culturally and linguistically diverse young people
Young people in remote NT
Young parents
Young people not engaged in education, training, or employment
Young people in the out of home care system
Young people at risk of or involved in the youth justice system
Young people at risk of or experiencing homelessness
Young people with chronic health conditions and mental health conditions
Young people with alcohol and other drug issues
Young LGBTQIA+ people
Young people with disability
Young people who have experiences with domestic, family, and sexual violence

The project also supports young people and the non-government youth sector by:

sharing the stories and experiences of young people to change the way young people are spoken about in the Territory
creating connections and sharing information
identifying and facilitating training and workforce development opportunities
providing advice to governments based on what young people have told us

The project is run by the Northern Territory Council of Social Service (NTCOSS). The project is currently funded by the Northern Territory Government, Department of Territory Families, Housing and Communities. NTCOSS sought this funding to look at developing a youth peak body in the Northern Territory.
