Right Care Right Place Training – Eating Disorders, Disordered Eating & Body Image Concerns

Right Care Right Place project welcomes workers in Alice Springs to build their confidence in supporting individuals experiencing disordered eating and body image worries.

We’re pleased to host Dr Emma Spiel from the National Eating Disorder Collaboration (NEDC), who will be visiting Central Australia to deliver a series of practical and informative training sessions.

The training will be held in person at Flinders University, Centre for Remote Health, 5 Skinner Street Alice Springs.

CBT-Guided Self Help for Binge Eating (CBT-GSH) Tuesday 29thJuly

9am – 4pm

Evidence based approach for treating disordered eating or mild-moderate binge eating disorder presentations.

Learn communication skills for engaging clients in therapy and tips for developing healthier thought/eating patterns

Mental health professionals, GPs, dietitians working in disordered eating, support workers, counsellors
Identification & Initial Response

 

Wednesday 30th July

8:30am – 10:30am

Identify warning signs of disordered eating, how to engage the person and where to find support and local access to care. All health, mental health, education, community and support professionals. GPs.  Intake/triage workers and managers.  dietitians and nutritionists, counsellors, school workers, gym workers, nurses, health workers, midwives.
ED Psychoeducation Thursday 31st July

8:30am – 9:30am

 

 

Provide psychoeducation about eating disorders  – used in combination with SSI below Health, mental health, education, community and support professionals. GPs.   Dietitians. Intake/triage workers, support workers, school counsellors, gym workers
ED Single Session Intervention (SSI) Thursday 31st July

10:30am – 12:30pm

Provide evidenced based treatment approach – eating disorder specific single session intervention (SSI)
