Vicarious trauma and self care: How to keep yourself strong and balanced in the work
This session will focus on learning to identify and manage the signs of stress and vicarious trauma when working in the community sector. The session will help develop strategies to ensure we look after ourselves and remain effective in our role.

In this session, we will learn about the key stages of case management and how this framework can assist in our work. We will discuss developing a case plan collaboratively with par, and gain an understanding around how these skills can assist them to achieve their goals.

Understanding Aboriginal mobility
Aboriginal people across central and northern Australia are highly mobile. A misunderstanding of Aboriginal mobility can seriously impact our work and outcomes for the people we are working with. Gaining a better understanding and recognition of Aboriginal mobility and mobility patterns will inform and strengthen our practice and the outcomes for the people we are working with.

Case Notes and File Record Keeping
In this practical, discussion – based workshop, we will explore the purpose of case notes and documentation. We will consider the importance of record keeping, learn how to best structure documentation, and practice writing case notes within our work context.

Understanding Aboriginal households
We need to better understand Aboriginal households and household stress in the context of our work with individuals, families and communities. Density of people is significant, but only one factor in assessing residential stress. In this session we will gain an understanding of the different kinds of household stress factors to consider in our work and decision making.

This session will cover the purpose, principles, and practice of supervision. We offer practical tools for structuring and documenting supervision sessions to bolster practice across teams.
